How sweet it is, is it? How can you tell when German Riesling is sweet?

Tags: riesling, qmp

The following label terms are listed from lowest to highest level in the German QmP system of legally defining grape ripeness levels (which correlates to sugar levels), but even the lowest level of ripeness can be markedly sweet. The next best thing is to check the alcohol content. The lower the alcohol the more likely the wine is to be sweet. For instance, 12.5% or higher is usually dry. Anything lower is off-dry to sweet. Click the above glossary term for more information.
