Wine 101sugar winefromA "wine"—sometimes called false or second wine— made by adding sugar, water, and tartaric acid (see ACIDS) to the POMACE after the true wine has all been PRESSED from it. The pomace still contains yeasts, which cause FERMENTATION to begin. The result is a much lighter version of the real wine. It's illegal for commercial wineries to make and sell sugar wines.
