Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC
[raw-SEH-zeh dee dawl-chehAHK-wah]

Small DOC zone, also known simply as Dolceacqua, located in the western part of Italy's LIGURIA region, close to the French border. The area, which encircles the town of Dolceacqua, overlaps in some areas with the Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC. The Rossese di Dolceacqua wines must include 95 percent of the Rossese grape. These red wines are very fruity and reminiscent of French BEAUJOLAIS wines. The superiore has 1 percent higher ALCOHOL (13 percent) and is AGED for 1 year.
