Cucamonga Valley AVA

A 109,000-acre southern California VITICULTURAL AREA located about 45 miles east of Los Angeles. Established in 1985, its history goes back to the nineteenth century when MISSION grapes were first planted. Although there were as many as 35,000 acres planted here in the 1950s, today there are only about 1,000 acres. Urban sprawl continues to spread eastward toward San Bernardino, and grapevines have succumbed to the GLASSY-WINGED SHARPSHOOTER and PIERCE’S DISEASE.
