Deidesheim [DI-duhss-hime] One of several adjoining towns, including forst, RUPPETSBERG, and WACHENHEM, that produces some of the best wines of Germany’s PFALZ region. This picturesque town has a number of fine estates including BASSERMAN-JORDAN, von Buhl, and Deinhard. Deidesheim is located in the BEREICH Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstrasse and has vineyards located in three of the area’s GROSSLAGEN—Hofstück, Mariengarten, and Schnepfenflug. There are a number of excellent EIZELLAGEN including Grainhübel, Herrgottsacker, Hohenmorgan, Kieselberg, Langenmorgen, Leinhöhle, and Paradiesgarten. Over 50 percent of the vineyards attached to Deidesheim are planted with RIESLING, the variety used to produce Deidesheim’s most distinguished wines. The town’s reputation for fine wines extends back several centuries. Related Links: Ruppertsberg, Pfalz, Grosslage
