quinta [KEEN-tah] Portuguese for "farm," used to refer to a vineyard site or estate. Quintas, which are similar in connotation to the CHÂTEAUX of BORDEAUX, grow grapes for port, as well as for other wines. They're often connected with one of the well-known port houses, such as Dow, Fonseca, or Graham. Many of the wines end up in house blends, but the concept of single-quinta wine, including singlequinta vintage port (see PORT), is becoming more popular. Related Links: Portugal, châ, Bordeaux
