Dolcetto d'Alba DOC
[dawl-CHEHT-toh DAHL-bah]

DOC zone that is considered the best of the seven DOCs in Italy's PIEDMONT region because of the number of high-quality producers making wine. It specializes in wines made with the DOLCETTO grape and the better wines are SMOOTH, with just enough TANNINS to be well BALANCED. This DOC zone encompasses an area around the town of Alba in the southeastern part of Piedmont. Part of the vineyards covered are in the same area as BAROLO and BARBARESCO.
