domaine
[doh-MAYN; Fr. daw-MEHN]
French for “estate” or “property.” The term is most often used in BURGUNDY where it pertains to a single property, although the property might be made up of several vineyards in different locations. If a wine is ESTATE BOTTLED (made and bottled by the grower), it’s labeled “MIS AU DOMAINE,” “MISE DU DOMAINE,” “MIS EN BOUTEILLE AU DOMAINE,” or “MIS EN BOUTEILLE A LA PROPRIETE.”
