Potter Valley AVA

Small 27,500-acre AVA that is part of California's larger MENDOCINO AVA. It's located on the eastern side of Mendocino County, northeast of CLEAR LAKE AVA, and shares its western border with the adjoining REDWOOD VALLEY AVA. The growing season here is characterized by warm days and very cool nights. SAUVIGNON BLANC, SÉMILLON, and RIESLING do well in this climate; CHARDONNAY and PINOT NOIR are also grown. There are no wineries here, only vineyards.
