Pouilly-Loché AC
[poo-yee law-SHAY]

APPELLATION that is located next to the better-known POUILLY-FUISSÉ AC in the MÂCONNAIS area of France's BURGUNDY region. Its vineyards surround the village of Loché, which is near the village of Fuissé. Much of the Pouilly-Loché AC CHARDONNAY-based wine is produced by the cooperative at Loché. It's considered a cheaper alternative to Pouilly-Fuissé wine, although some wine critics believe that the use of "Pouilly" in its name allows Pouilly-Loché to be a bit overpriced. Pouilly-Loché wines may also be sold under the better-known "POUILLY-VINZELLES AC" label.
