œil de perdrix
[uh-yuh deuh pehr-DREE]

A French term meaning "partridge eye," used in the past to describe white wines that are made from red grapes and have a pinkish hue—similar to the pinkish tint of a partridge's eye. Today the terms VIN GRIS or VIN ROSÉ usually appear on labels of such wines.
