Oestrich
[UH-strihch]

A large village located along the Rhine River southwest of the city of Wiesbaden in Germany's RHEINGAU region. The wines from this area are generally of high quality and occasionally superior. RIESLING is the grape of choice, and it produces FIRM, full-bodied (see BODY) wines. The best EINZELLAGEN include Doosberg, Klosterberg, Lenchen, and Schloss Reichartshausen (the latter, which is classified as an ORTSEIL, isn't required to use Oestrich's name on the label).
