originalabfullung [oh-RIHG-ih-nahl-AHB-foo-lung] A German term once used to indicate that a wine was ESTATE BOTTLED. In 1971 the term Originalabfüllung was legally replaced by ERZEUGERABFÜLLUNG, which means “bottled by the proprietor” and has a denotation similar to estate bottled. More recently, the term GUTSABFÜLLUNG was introduced—it’s more restrictive and even closer to the U.S. definition of estate bottled. Related Links: bottled by, Erzeugerabfullung, Gutsabfullung
