A term term that in the past has been used for the grape varieties once acknowledged to produce the world’s great wines: CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CHARDONNAY, MERLOT, PINOT NOIR, SAUVIGNON BLANC, and RIESLING. In French, the term is cépages nobles.
