Malibu-Newton Canyon AVA
Tiny 850-acre AVA located in Los Angeles County's Malibu area. Approved in 1996, this region is situated in Newton Canyon, a small area in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu. There is only one vineyard, Rosenthal, with 14 acres planted to CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 3 acres to CHARDONNAY, and a small amount of CABERNET FRANC and MERLOT. Wines from this area are currently produced in San Luis Obispo and sold under the Rosenthal-The Malibu Estate label.
