Markgräflerland, Bereich

A large BEREICH (subregion) located in the southern part of Germany's BADEN region. It runs along the Rhine River, south from the University city of Freiburg to Basel on the Swiss border. The wines from this area are generally mild and rather neutral but quite pleasant. Gutedel (CHASSELAS) is the most popular grape variety, along with MÜLLER-THURGAU and Spätburgunder (PINOT NOIR).
