metodo champenois
[MEH-toh-doh shahm-peh-NWAHZ]

Italian phrase for the French MÉTHODE CHAMPENOISE. However, because EEC regulations restrict the term "MÉTHODE CHAMPENOISE" and its translations to French sparkling wines, Italy more commonly uses the terms "METODO TRADIZIONALE"or "METODO CLASSICO."
