Montravel
[mawn-rah-VEHL]

Located on the west side of the BERGERAC area close to France's BORDEAUX region, Montravel produces white wines from SÉMILLON, SAUVIGNON BLANC, and MUSCADELLE. Wines labeled Montravel AC are almost DRY, whereas those designated Côtes de Montravel AC or Haut-Montravel AC are semisweet to sweet. The wines are not outstanding, and, because they don't fall into today's popular catagories of fully DRY or richly sweet, they're declining in popularity.
