Moseltaler
[MOH-zuhl-TAH-luhr]
Created in 1986, Moseltaler is a new category for wines produced in Germany's MOSEL-SAAR-RUWER region. These wines are similar to the LIEBFRAUMILCH wines produced along the Rhine. Moseltaler must be made from ELBLING, KERN, MÜLLERTHURGAU, or RIESLING grapes, contain between 1.5 and 3 percent RESIDUAL SUGAR and a minimum of 0.7 percent total acidity (see ACIDS), and be of QUALITÄTSWEIN BESTIMMTER ANBAUGEBIET (QbA) quality.
