Lalande-de-Pomerol AC [lah-LAHND duh pawm-uh-RAWL] Although it's considered a lesser-known "satellite" APPELLATION of BORDEAUX's POMEROL district, Lalande-de-Pomerol actually has more acreage. It encompasses the COMMUNES of Lalande-de-Pomerol and Neacon the northeast edge of Pomerol. Even though MERLOT is the dominant grape in Lalande-de-Pomerol wines, they also include CABERNET FRANC, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, and MALBEC. These wines are usually not as BIG and full-bodied (see BODY) as the better Pomerol wines, but then they aren't as expensive, either. Related Links: appellation, Bordeaux, Pomerol AC, Saint-Julien AC
