Listrac AC
[lees-TRAHK]

One of the lesser-known APPELLATIONS in the MÉDOC district of France's BORDEAUX region. The wines from this area aren't quite as good as those from the neighboring COMMUNES of MARGAUX, PAUILLAC,or SAINT-JULIEN, and the Listrac AC (or Listrac-Medoc AC) contains no CRUS CLASSÉS (classed growths). The vineyards of this area sit back further from the Gironde estuary and contain less of the desirable gravelly soil than the vineyards of the more famous communes in the area. The area sits northwest of Margaux and southwest of Saint-Julien. The main grapes used are CABERNET FRANC, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, and MERLOT.
