Haut-Poitou VDQS
[oh-pwah-TOO]

VDQS area located north of the city of Poitiers, southwest of Tours, in the central part of France's LOIRE region. A majority of the wines are red or ROSÉ, made mainly from GAMAY and some CABERNET FRANC and CABERNET SAUVIGNON. The CRISP, DRY white wines are made from SAUVIGNON BLANC, CHARDONNAY,or CHENIN BLANC. Some SPARKLING WINE is made as well.
