Graves de Vayres AC
[grahv duh VEHR]

Located in the northern part of the ENTRE-DEUX-MERS area of France's BORDEAUX region, this small APPELLATION runs along the Dordogne River across from the SAINTÉMILION AC. Graves de Vayres AC is unrelated to the GRAVES region, although it has a similar gravelly soil (from which comes its name). Both the white wines (which are DRY) and the red wines are generally satisfactory. The reds are made from CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CABERNET FRANC, and MERLOT; the whites are made from SAUVIGNON BLANC, SÉMILLON, and MUSCADELLE.
