Groppello
[groh-PEHL-oh]
Good-quality red-wine grape grown in Italy's LOMBARDY region, primarily in the DOC of Riviera del Garda Bresciano, where it's used to create appealing ROSÉ (called CHIARETTO) and red wines. Although Groppello is the principal variety in both the reds and rosés from this area, SANGIOVESE and BARBERA grapes are also used in the blend.
