Groslot
[groh-LOH]

Red-wine grape of rather ordinary quality, grown primarily in the ANJOU district of France’s LOIRE region. Groslot is the main component in the semisweet, moderately flavored ROSÉ D’ANJOU wines, which generally have low ALCOHOL and high ACIDITY. There are, however, some higher-quality Rosé d’Anjou wines that exhibit a wonderful appley flavor with a hint of nuts. Groslot acreage has been declining in France in favor of higher-quality varieties. This grape is also known as Grolleau.
