Gruner Veltliner
[GROO-ner FELT-lih-ner]

White-wine grape grown principally in Austria (and that country's most widely planted variety), but also cultivated in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Slovenia. This grape produces pale, CRISP, light- to medium-bodied (see BODY) slightly SPICY wines of good quality. It's also called Grunmuskateller and Veltlini, as well as simply Gruner.
