Assmannshausen
[AHS-mahns-how-zuhn]

A German village located in the RHEINGAU region, north of RÜDESHEIM, where the Rhine shifts north toward the town of Koblenz. Assmannshausen produces a famous and expensive red wine made from Spätburgunder (PINOT NOIR). Internationally, these wines are not as well received as they are in Germany because they’re generally lighter and can be sweet.
