Weinbaugebiet
[vine-BOW-geh-beet]

The term for a basic wine region designated for DEUTSCHER TAFFELWEIN (German TABLE WINE) production. There are four Weinbaugebiete—BAYERN, NECKAR, OBERHEIN, and RHEIN MOSEL. They are further divided into eight Untergebiet (subdistricts) and nineteen Gebiet (districts identified for LANDWEIN production).
