wine lake A reference to the low-quality wine produced in huge volumes from the warmer growing areas in the European Economic Community. Unlike quality wines, these potables don’t fit into any of the supervised quality categories; therefore, the vineyards where these wines are grown are not governed by YIELD limitations. In addition, the grape VARIETIES are usually high producers of neutral character. Authorities in the various European countries are encouraging improvements through advanced VINIFICATION techniques and replanting with higher-quality grape varieties.
