Vendange Tardive
[vahn-dahn-ZH tahr-DEEV]
French for "LATE HARVEST," referring to wines made from late-picked grapes with higher sugar levels and more pronounced flavors. Such wines, which are a specialty of the ALSACE region, are generally VINIFIED totally DRY and are rich and very flavorful. They're made from several varieties—RIESLING, GEWÜRZTRAMINER, PINOT GRIS, and MUSCAT.
