Castel del Monte DOC
[kas-TEHL del MON-tay]

A well-known DOC located in Italy’s APULIA region. It’s located in the hilly region west of Bari not far from the Adriatic. It covers ROSSO, BIANCO, and ROSATO wines; the reds and rosés are highly regarded. UVA DI TROIA is the main grape for the red wines, which also include AGLIANICO, MONTE-PULCIANO, Pinot Nero (PINOT NOIR), and SANGIOVESE. Bombino Nero is the dominant grape for the rosé wine, which can also include most of the aforementioned red grapes. The white wine, which is made mainly from Pampanuto, is considered rather bland.
