Chardonel
[SHAHR-duh-nehl]
A HYBRID created by New York State Agricultural Experiment Station from CHARDONNAY and SEYVAL BLANC (which itself comes from a long line of hybrids). Released in 1991, Chardonel has become popular in colder U.S. climates because of its hardiness, plus it can produce high-quality wines because of its Chardonnay parentage.
