Tinto Cão
[TEEN-toh keng]

High-quality red Portuguese grape variety grown in the DOCs of DOURO and DÃO. Tinto Cão, which means "red dog," is thought to have been planted in the Douro Valley for over 300 years. It gradually faded from use because of its low yields. However, growers striving to improve their PORT wines have begun planting this grape.
