Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AC
[san nee-koh-lah duh boor-GUH-yuh]
A village located in the TOURAINE region of France's LOIRE Valley. Like its neighbors the CHINON AC and the BOURGUEIL AC, the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AC is one of the few village APPELLATIONS in the area focused on red wines. Its dry climate allows it to grow CABERNET FRANC and limited quantities of CABERNET SAUVIGNON. Generally, the wines are light and fruity, with raspberry overtones. Better vintages can be AGED for 8 to 10 years.
