Saint-Véran AC
[san vay-RAHN]
This APPELLATION, which surrounds the village of Saint-Vérand (the d is correct) and six other villages, is located in the MÂCONNAIS subregion in BURGUNDY. The Saint-Véran AC is located next to the well-known POUILLY-FUISSÉ AC and produces white CHARDONNAY wines of a similar style. Although it only received appellation status in 1971, the wines have long been thought to be the equal of those from Pouilly-Fuissé, and because they're not as well known, they're available at much lower prices.
