San Pasqual Valley AVA
Small 9,000-acre California AVA located north of San Diego and southeast of Escondido in the San Pasqual Valley. It's situated 10 to 15 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, from which it receives maritime breezes that moderate the temperatures (although it sustains occasional winter freezes). San Pasqual Valley AVA is part of the larger SOUTH COAST AVA. It was approved in 1981 and has only one winery in the area, Orfila Vineyards.
