Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AC
[koh-toh dehks ahn proh-VAHNS]
APPELLATION, elevated from VDQS in 1985, that is located around the French city of Aix-en-Provence, northeast of Marseille. Red and ROSÉ wines are made from CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CINSAUT, GRENACHE, MOURVÈDRE, and SYRAH; white wines are made from CLAIRETTE, GRENACHE BLANC, SAUVIGNON BLANC, SÉMILLON, and Ugni Blanc (TREBBIANO). Rosé wines make up over half the production followed by red wines and a very few white wines.
