Côtes de Castillon AC

APPELLATION that takes its name from the village of Castillon-la-Bataille, which is famous for being the site where the English lost a decisive battle, thus ending the Hundred Years’ War and England’s 300-year control of the Bordeaux region. The area is located east of SAINT-ÉMILION in France’s BORDEAUX region. Côtes de Castillon produces red wines from standard Bordeaux grapes but primarily uses MERLOT and CABERNET FRANC.
