Côtes du Lubéron AC
[koht deu leu-bay-RAWN]
Located in the southern part of France’s RHÔNE region, southeast of Avignon and just south of CÔTES DU VENTOUX AC, this APPELLATION was accorded AC status in 1988. A majority of the wine is red and ROSÉ produced from CINSAUT, GRENACHE, MOURVÈDRE, and SYRAH. The white wines are made from CLAIRETTE, CHARDONNAY, SAUVIGNON BLANC, and Ugni Blanc (TREBBIANO). Similar to the lighter-style wines of CÔTES DU RHÔNE AC, those from Côtes du Luberon are generally LIGHT and fruity and made for early consumption.
