Shoalhaven
An Australian wine region located in the South Coast Zone of NEW SOUTH WALES. It's situated along the Pacific Ocean about 95 miles south of Sydney around the town of Nowra. This area is not as warm as the HASTING RIVER region north of Sydney, where the weather is more subtropical but still humid and where summer rains can be problematic. Slightly over 500 acres are planted with CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CHARDONNAY, GEWURTZTRAMINER, MERLOT, PINOT NOIR, SAUVIGNON BLANC, SEMILLON, SHIRAZ, and VERDELHO. The HYBRID, CHAMBOURCIN, is also grown here because of its resistance to humidity-related diseases like mildew.
