South Coast AVA
California VITICULTURAL AREA that includes parts of Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties. There are two smaller AVAs (subzones) here—TEMECULA and SAN PASQUAL. The South Coast AVA covers about 115,000 acres with slightly over 3,000 acres of vines, most of which are in the Temecula AVA. The main grape varieties are CHARDONNAY and SAUVIGNON BLANC. Other varieties are CHENIN BLANC, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, RIESLING, MERLOT, ZINFANDEL, PINOT BLANC, and VIOGNIER. There are about twenty wineries in this area.
