Jeremy says: If I could go anywhere on a tasting tour this summer it would be to Jerez in southwestern Spain. I've been wanting to go check out the production of sherry for quite some time now. Sherry is one of the most underrated / forgotten wines out there. They have great depth of character and are such great food wines, it is a shame that so many people hear you say sherry and immediately think of Harvey Bristol Cream. There is great sherry out there, and I want to go find it. Not to mention while I'm there I'm sure to have some great food and will be able to clock in some beach time.

Rachel says: I’d head to Argentina. The Malbecs that are turning up in Argentina are impressive and distinct with pronounced flavors of figs and chestnuts. I want to see the grapevines of the Uco Valley that are growing 5,000 feet above sea level. Above all, I am curious in the long term growth of Argentina, and am interested to see the potential of wines of Argentina within the next 5-10 years.

Andrew says: Another vote for Argentina. I first visited the Mendoza region of Argentina in February of last year. While everybody was freezing their tails off in Scarsdale, it was summer warm down there ... rough work right? As you gaze across the flatlands of vineyards running in the distance they come to an abrupt halt at the base of the Andes mountains. Even in the summer time they are breathtaking and snow capped but in the winter (our summer) one can only imagine. On top of that I was fascinated with the look of Buenos Aires as it seems like a South American Paris ... it is an invigorating wine region that I think has yet to have it's true potential tapped.

From farm boy to culinary student to sommelier, wine has led Jeremy Noye down some interesting paths. His specialty at Zachys is Bordeaux and the wines of Spain, but his interests include Burgundy, Rhone, Loire and Italy, to name a few.

Rachel Imbrogno

Rachel Imbrogno grew up in an Italian-American household where Italian red wine was part of every dinner. Working at Zachys has broadened her horizons and deepened her respect for wines produced in other countries such as Argentina, Spain and Australia.
