FOUND!!!

To my immense dismay, I discovered 8 bottles of 1982 Clos du Marquis (the second wine of the illustrious Château Leoville Las-Cases Bordeaux ) buried in the back of my wine cellar the other day. I figured it had probably peaked around 1992, roughly ten years after the vintage, and was way over the hill. I decided to pop a cork anyway, to see just how far over the hill.

To my astonishment, it was delectable. Creamy fruit, a solid cedary bouquet, and a super-long finish. Not bad for a wine I paid just 7 bucks for back in '84.

I think it says a lot about  Las-Cases when even its second wine can age gracefully for a quarter of a century. Imagine how great the 1982 Las-Cases, which Robert M. Parker scored a perfect 100, must be tasting like now.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any of that in my locker. Anybody out there got a bottle we can try? I'll bring the Clos du Marquis.
