Strawberries were ready for picking today, for the first time this year, at The Food Project's farm in Lincoln. We went to pick up this week's CSA share (CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture), and I for one was tickled to see "One pint of strawberries" enumerated on the chalkboard's list of pick-your-own options this week.Strawberry picking is an old early-summer ritual in my house. My mother's father took her to little-known patches on the hillsides of Pennsylvania, and she took me. T ...

Massaya's Classic White, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and the autochthonous varietal Obeidi, is one of my favorite bargain wines. The wine is crisp, mineral driven with notes of melon, citrus and dried herbs-a perfect pair with soft shell-crabs, light seafood or salads. This simple but tasty wine has a place at a picnic or in dining room.

Last night, my roommate decided to run by the wine store on her way home for a little Sunday night vino. Picking out a bottle of Cotes du Rhone, JPee was suddenly seized by a bout of digestive distress, and grabbed the first two bottles that she saw. When she arrived home, she literally dropped her purchases on the carpet and went running for the restroom. I was left to inspect her purchases.

What wine goes with Cambodian food?Riesling, if you ask one of the partners at the Elephant Walk, who traveled to Pfalz, Germany and bought J.L. Wolf's entire reserve of their 2006 "Wachenheimer" for the restaurant. The Wolf Riesling heads the list of featured wines on the Elephant Walk's wine list; it is one of a small selection in the category of northern European whites. Generally speaking, northern European whites are a good bet for Cambodian food since they include a range of sweet and off-d ...

Last week I filled up my tank to prep for my four hour drive to beach. $86. And I don't drive an SUV. Dayum - I think I've seen one-way airfares to Florida for less than 86 bucks. $4.22/gallon - haven't seen that kind of craziness at the pumps since the reign of Jimmy Carter.

I have seen the future. It is in France and it is on the internet. I could even say that it is the internet. Wine on-line isn't new. Wine in-line is! Even more compelling, it could provide the perfect gift for that wine person in your life. Of course, I am talking about USB-Wine. USB-Wine is the perfect size item to fit in a stocking. It shows clean design and is made out of the highest quality stainless ...

Nothing beats a road show for swooping in, paparazzi-style, to get the scoop on who's-who and what's-what about a particular designer or, in today's case, about a particular region and its wines.

Last night I enjoyed the wonderful 1998 Pol Roger vintage Brut Champagne, which cost me a hefty $80 a bottle. Tonight, I'm going to enjoy it again, but it will cost me absolutely nothing. That's because I'm not opening a second bottle, but will be finishing the one I started last night.

Recently I've become really enamored with La Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion. For a second wine (that's a wine made with the grapes that are considered not quite good enough for the grand vin a winery produces) this wine really kicked ass.
